My appreciation of nature has allowed me to have a perspective of admiring the natural beauty that is inherent in the world around us. That perspective has also allowed me to view unnatural materials in the same way. This overarching interpretation has allowed me to not condemn the man-made materials that surround our culture but to admire them in the same way that I do the natural world. Photography has been a means for me to meditate on my environment and create a unique perspective of how I appreciate objects. Specifically my series of windows is structured around reflection; the surface of the window, and the subject behind the window. These elements represent the complexity of my attraction towards this type of subject. Admiring man-made materials has challenged the way that I represent beauty because of a dichotomy of how I want to present my perspective of nature and man made environments. My intention in creating these images is to present a discourse revolving around whether beauty is subjective or whether it can be applied to subjects that one might otherwise disregard.
